About NCSF United
If you’ve made it this far then you probably want to know a little bit about NCSF United, so what better place to start than the beginning…
The Nicola Corry Support Foundation (NCSF) was originally setup to help Nicola Corry and her family in her fight against a very rare cancer. In 2006, the Fund had grown to support more families that have been affected by Cancer, with the main purpose of providing financial support to families where a parent had cancer.
During COVID-19, the effects of the pandemic on small grassroot charities that operate with a very small group of volunteers became even more of a challenge. An opportunity arose in 2023 to establish a restricted fund with Penny Brohn UK, the trustees felt this was the best way to take Nicola’s legacy into the future. Today, the fund supports one or both parents of a child under the age of 16 years old, where one or both have themselves had a diagnosis of cancer within the last 3 years and where financial assistance is required for them to attend services and support at Penny Brohn UK.
While the Charity is the foundation of this Football Club, don’t be fooled on the pitch, as we give nothing away! Dressed in a fierce pink, we field two competitive teams in the Bristol Downs Association Football League.
Starting out in 2009 in the Downs Division 4 league, NCSF had a mixed start to life as a new team. In 2018 NCSF United reached the GFA cup final, being the lowest ranked team in the whole competition, this was some achievement that the club are proud of.
The club started to gain big interest from people wanting to get back into football following the COVID-19 pandemic and due to the larger squad numbers and appetite from new players, the decision was made to expand. In the 2021/22 season, NCSF fielded two teams on the Downs for the first time: NCSF Firsts and NCSF Reserves. Since then, both squads have been getting stronger and stronger, with both securing a promotion.
Fast forward to the upcoming 2024/25 season, NCSF Firsts’ Manager Steve Pugh looks to fight for Division 2 bragging rights and build upon the strong season just gone. Arun Hall, Manager of newly promoted NCSF Reserves, plans to make a statement as they enter Division 3 for the first time.
